B. Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering

Electronics & Communication Engineering, one of the most prominent fields of modern day academics is the basis for industries such as Analog, Digital and consumer electronics, embedded systems, power electronics and many more. Electronics engineering focuses on implementation of applications and algorithm combined with analytical and innovative abilities. This leads to better technological advances.

Career Prospects

Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) is associated with electronic circuits & systems, and has been acknowledged as one of the most sought after branches. It involves research, conceptualisation, development and test precision of components & systems. This stream involves various areas of our daily life activities, so its applications are diverse. These include defense, medical instruments, smart phones, nanotechnology, acoustics, radio & satellite comm and robotics. Sub categories of electronics engineering include control engineering, signal processing and telecommunications engineering and instrumentation.

Eligibility Criteria

12th with Physics & Mathematics as mandatory subjects along with any one of the following subjects; Biology, Bio-technology, Chemistry, Technical vocational subject are eligible to pursue BTech course. Students who have passed diploma course in any engineering trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education or SantLongowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) Longowalor any other State Board of Technical Education or 2 years certificate course from SLIET are also eligible to pursue bachelor’s course in this stream.

Admission Procedure

Admission is carried out via JEE (Main) examination / marks obtained in 12th standard. 66.6% seats form the State-wide Quota while 33.3% seats are reserved for the Management Quota. Admissions to all seats are made on the basis of merit of JEE (Main) examination /10+2 marks. Online registration for management quota seats can be done on the website www.cgc.ac.in

Lateral Entry to Second Year

a) Passed Diploma examination from an AICTE approved Institution; With at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in appropriate branch of Engineering/ Technology.
b) Passed B.Sc. degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed XII standard with mathematics as a subject.
c) Provided that the students belonging to B.Sc. Stream, shall clear the subjects Engineering Graphics/ Engineering Drawing and engineering Mechanics of the first year Engineering Programme along with the second year subjects.

The candidate must possess a good moral character. They must fulfill the conditions mentioned in the Punjab Government Notification No. 35/44/95-fT (2]/978 dated 21.3.2003 incorporated in the Information Brochure of PTU. They must fulfill the requirements laid down by Punjab Technical University. He / She must be a citizen of India. 20% of the total seats in first year intake are filled in 2nd year out of which 33.3% seats are reserved under the management quota which are filled directly by the college.
