All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, definitely holds true especially in today’s world. Now a days students are so preoccupied with work and curriculum that they tend to ignore sports. In order to remain fit it is the responsibility of every educational institute to foster sports and make it a vital part of any educational program.

 

Following are some of the reasons why sports are important along with studies:

Students who are a part of a team and represent their school or college go on to become active members of community in their future, whether it is in work front or in social life.

 

  1. Fitness:  Due to negligence of physical activities it has been seen that, students lack stamina and are more prone to diseases. Sports improves metabolism and makes the body fit in order to bear the stress and pressure during mid age.
  1. Improved Academics:  It has been proved that physical activity improves the circulation of blood and greatly improves metabolism. Natural phenomenon such as sweating, panting etc, are regarded as heathy. Long term cardio vascular activities improve heart function & stamina and increases life span & concentration levels
  1. Positive Mentors:  Sports help in finding mentors who act as a guiding force and provide the right direction. It is vital to be directed by the right person at an early age so that they do not take the wrong path. This helps them follow directions and understand them positively.
  1. Learn to accept their negatives: Sports are a great way to accept your mistakes and improvise them. Sports teach people to practise and work hard in order to improve mistakes and get them right. Therefore it makes the person more humble and ready to work hard.
  1. Leadership Skills:One of the most important benefits of indulgence in sports is that with time it makes each and every player a leader in themselves as every player has a vital role to play in a team. Therefore it increases confidence in a person and helps them find a leader in themselves.
  1. Time Management:Mostly all the sports are time driven and it is important to score the maximum points in a stipulated time. A person who follows sports closely or is associated to a particular sport will always value time and will eventually learn the art of time management.

In every sport, each and every player aims for success and tries their level best. It teaches to strive hard to get the best and to not be satisfied by the second best.

Summer holidays are around the corner, and I am sure students are the ones who desperately look forward towards summer holidays. The best part about summer holidays is that, they are quite long and you can plan something worthwhile.

It’s true that the sun is shining bright and it’s not the best time to spend outdoors therefore one deserves a small break to the hills maybe for a couple of day, but what about the left over holiday. Well below are some of the ways to make full use of summer holidays in the best possible manner

Take up a summer job-India is at full boom and there are quite a few places which are in desperate need for youngsters who are willing to contribute few hours towards their work. If you wish to make some money along with gaining some experience then there are many opportunities in the F&B segment. There are many fast food joints as well such as Mc Donald, KFC, and Pizza Hut etc. which offer part time jobs to students during summer holidays.

  1. Join A Part Time Course-Another excellent option to make full use of your summer holidays is to join a part time course such as a computer course or a language course which would in future help you in getting you a job. There are plenty of poly technic courses as well which are not only job oriented but are of very short durations.
  2. Pick up a hobby-If you have been struggling to take out time for your hobby then make use of your summer holiday. Hobbies such as singing, dancing art and craft are not only satisfying but can also promise you a career in the long run.
  3. Develop some skills-Now a days the industry is fast evolving, which is making your old skills redundant. You would be surprised to know that something which you were proud of, is no longer in use. Therefore research what skills are in demand and try and build those skills. There are many short term IT courses which promise a lucrative career, are offered online as well as institutes. It’s not a bad idea to go through the skills which you developed in the past and brush them over.
  4. Volunteer in a NGO or for a social cause-Working for a social cause looks amazing on your resume. Find some NGO which are in need of volunteers and invest some time serving them. Most NGOs do not pay but are happy to provide with you with a certificate which holds great value. Not only it helps you develop some essential skills but is very rewarding otherwise.
  5. Socialise-If none of the above impresses you, then do some fun activities with your family and friends such as water sports, rock climbing, camping and glamping. Meeting family and friends would help you in link building and develop your social skills which would help you in the future while you are looking for a full time job.
