CGC Mohali (Jhanjeri) Celebrates World Book and Copyright Day with a Unique Literary Experience

In a vibrant celebration of literature, creativity, and intellectual freedom, the Central Library at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali (Jhanjeri) marked World Book and Copyright Day with a thoughtfully curated event — Blind Date with Books. The event invited students to embrace the joy of reading in an engaging and interactive way.

The highlight of the celebration was the “Blind Date with Books” activity, where books wrapped in mystery paper were placed on display, encouraging students to pick a book without knowing its title or author — a delightful literary surprise that inspired exploration and curiosity.

The event was graced by Ms. Bismin Dhaliwal, Director, DSA, who was warmly welcomed by the Library team and enthusiastic members of the Mind Bender Literary Club. Their presence added an aura of inspiration and enthusiasm, encouraging students to appreciate the power of literature.

A special interactive corner was set up where students could share the names of their favourite books by writing them on a whiteboard. This personal touch not only sparked conversation among book lovers but also built a sense of community around reading.

The occasion also honored acts of generosity and literary spirit. Mr. Saurabh Mittal was awarded a Letter of Appreciation by Dr. Shivani Kaushal, Librarian, for his heartfelt donation of 130 books to the library. Additionally, esteemed author Mrs. Davinder Kaur Dhaliwal donated her published works, further enriching the library’s collection and inspiring young readers and writers alike.

This memorable celebration not only honored the essence of World Book and Copyright Day but also reinforced CGC Jhanjeri’s commitment to promoting literacy, creativity, and a culture of lifelong learning.
