EARTH DAY CELEBRATION BY CGC MOHALI (JHANJERI)

To mark the global celebration of Earth Day, an impactful plantation drive was conducted at Machli Kalan village by Naya Savera, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Wing, and the Eco Club, under the guidance of the Department of Student Affairs (DSA).

This thoughtful initiative brought together a dynamic group of environmentally conscious volunteers who worked tirelessly to contribute to a healthier planet. Their mission was simple yet profound: to restore green cover, preserve local biodiversity, and inspire the community to become active stakeholders in environmental conservation.

With spades in their hands and determination in their hearts, volunteers planted a variety of native saplings across key areas in the village. These trees are not just green additions to the landscape—they are long-term investments in clean air, fertile soil, and a balanced ecosystem.

Beyond planting, the volunteers conducted engaging sessions with the local residents, especially youth and children, explaining the significance of trees in combating climate change and maintaining ecological balance. Their outreach was met with curiosity and support, as several locals expressed interest in adopting the saplings and taking part in future drives.

“The act of planting a tree may seem small, but its impact is immense. Today, we’re not just planting saplings—we’re planting hope, awareness, and responsibility,” said one of the coordinators from the Eco Club.

This Earth Day celebration was not just a one-day event, but a part of a growing movement driven by young changemakers who believe in sustainability, action, and community spirit. The combined efforts of Naya Savera, the NSS Wing, and the Eco Club demonstrate how student-led initiatives can serve as powerful catalysts for positive change.

As the world faces increasing environmental challenges, such initiatives are a reminder that every tree planted is a promise for a better tomorrow—a legacy of green for the generations yet to come.
