NCC Cadets of CGC Jhanjeri Dominate

Win 4 gold and 2 silver medals in ATC – 123

The NCC cadets of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri brought laurels to the college by winning four gold and two silver medals in the Annual Training Camp (ATC-123) organized by 23 Punjab Battalion NCC, Roopnagar. The camp was attended by 228 cadets from 8 schools & 2 colleges of Punjab. The main aims of the camp were (i) to develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country, (ii) to create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, (iii) to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation, (iv) to provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up career in armed forces and lastly to enlighten knowledge about Blood Donation, Drug Addiction and Organ Donation. During the camp, a number of activities were organized like Weapon Training, Training for Map & Compass Reading, Basics of Firing Drill, Drill Classes, Training on 0.22 mm Rifle and 5.56mm INSAS Rifle. The competitions held there include Drill Competition, Firing Competition, Cultural Competition and the Competition for Word of Command. In these competitions Cadet Abhishek Katoch and Cadet Nikhil Anand of CGC Jhanjeri  were awarded Gold Medal for excellent handing of Security Management and House Keeping, Cadet Suraj Shahi got 2nd Positions in Drill Competition as well as Best Firer and got gold medal for being the overall Best Cadet, Under Officer Amit Rana got an opportunity to command the CAMP (being the camp senior). Thus, based on highest number of medals won by CGC Jhanjeri, they were declared winners of overall First Position amongst all the schools & colleges.
 
Congratulating the students for their excellent performance in the camp, S.Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that the training of NCC makes the students much more disciplined and patriotic. Dr. G.D.Bansal, Director General recalled that the students of CGC Jhanjeri have been winning highest number of medals in the previous camps also. Further, he congratulated the students for their enrolment in NCC Unit of Indian Navy also.
