Reiterating their commitment that they will not let anyone die in PGI, Chandigarh for want of blood, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri (CGC) organized a blood donation camp under the expertise of PGI, Chandigarh. Vishwas Meditation known for their social welfare activities provided huge motivation for all to donate blood. They offered nutritious refreshments and attractive gifts to all the donors. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Head Internal Medicines, Ivy Hospitals was the Chief Guest while Dr. Surinder was the Guest of Honour. The activities of this camp were organized and streamlined by the NCC and NSS units of the college.
There was an unprecedented rush of donors at the camp so much so that after collecting 232 units of blood, the team promised to arrange another camp in the near future for a large number of students who were still waiting for their turn. A novel feature of this camp was that 10 staff members & 222 students were given special honour by Vishwas Meditation for the highest number of blood donations made by them, going up to 18 times
Speaking about the camp, S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC, said that CGC is known for taking active interest in various social welfare activities. Dr. G. D. Bansal, Director General said that the students of CGC keep organizing various camps throughout the year for the benefit of the socity, like save environment, save water campaigns, drug de-addiction, awareness regarding traffic rules, swine flu, malaria, etc. The students of CGC Jhanjeri have also been always liberal for helping victims of natural calamities like floods, earthquakes, etc. anywhere in the country. All this inculcates ethical and moral values in students, Dr. Bansal added.
