Sign MoU with Punjab Energy Development Agency
Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri took yet another step towards updating and upgrading itself towards energy conservation and energy efficiency. The College signed an MoU with Punjab energy development Agency (PEDA). Under this MoU, the students of this college will prepare projects which will reduce the consumption of electric power. Civil Engineering students of this college will design buildings which will need no artificial lighting during the day, the whole building will be lit with natural sunlight only. The Mechanical Engineering and Electronics Engineering students will prepare designs of appliances which will minimize the consumption of electricity. For all this, PEDA will provide their guidance and advice from time to time.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said that the college is already making use of solar water heaters in all its hostels which results are a huge saving of electricity. Dr. G.D Bansal, Director General said that the college started using CFL tubes/bulbs as soon as they were introduced in the market. Now when LED bulbs have come up which are more energy efficient, we have replaced all the old bulbs with new LED bulbs. Further, all the air conditioners & refrigerators etc. used by CGC Jhanjeri, are having star ratings of at least 3 or more. Dr. Bansal is confident that with the signing of this MoU, the students will be able to prepare new projects which will result in saving of energy.
