Bringing a Smile in Time of Crisis !
Braving the threat posed by coronavirus, the NSS social workers team of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, Mohali stepped ahead to extend a helping hand to a number of working class who survive on daily wage. Adhering to all the prescribed precautions, a number of essential items were distributed by the staff of CGC Jhanjeri, including water bottles, packed food, snacks and bathing soaps.
The complete lockdown announced by the Government of India to prevent the spread of COVID-19 has had fruitful results as the number of cases in our country is still much less as compared to other countries. The lockdown has been put in place keeping in mind the health safety of every individual. However, there is a section of society that lives from hand-to-mouth, meaning they have to earn daily to feed themselves and their family. Realizing the situation CGC Jhanjeri stepped ahead to bring a moment of smile and a sort of relief with this philanthropic act. The NSS team of Jhanjeri College has time and again contributed towards various social causes and in acts of humanity, such as awareness camps on drug de-addiction, visiting orphanage and distributing blankets to old people, etc.
According to S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC, – “We are doing everything in our capacity to serve and help those who are in need in this times of trial. We sought permission from the administration to carry out this activity and were mindful of the cautions prescribed.” Dr. G. D. Bansal, Director General, stated –“the daily wage working people are the back bone of the society and their contribution cannot be underestimated, and in this tough time it is our duty to return back the favor in whatever way we can.”
