With a view to encourage its students to start their own enterprises, rather than searching jobs, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp in association with IKG Punjab Technical University & TIE. Mr. Vijay Kumar, Vice Chairman of Drish Infotech Limited and Mr.Varun Vashist from TiE Global Entrepreneurship were the keynote speakers. They shared their experiences and views with the students. Mr. Vijay Kumar gave an insight into entrepreneurship and explained what all young engineers could do for start-ups. He suggested that students should participate in all possible entrepreneurship competitions to be held in coming days. Mr. Varun discussed about TiE and the platform it can provide to student entrepreneurs for realizing their dreams. He discussed about incubation offers from State Incubators and importance of various mentorship programmes for taking their ideas to the next level.
At the end the speakers informed the students that TiE Chandigarh & IKG-PTU were organising TAP Business Plan Competition in 3rd week of November 2019, which will provide an opportunity to the students of all the affiliated colleges of IKGPTU to present their business ideas & plans before a panel of entrepreneurs from TiE and academicians from PTU. TAP will also provide an opportunity to the shortlisted teams to get necessary mentoring & moral as well as financial support from existing entrepreneurs of the region, for one month. On the final presentation day, TiE will give away cash prizes worth Rs. 1, 20,000 to the top 6 teams.
Speaking on the occasion S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC declared that the management will give all possible support to the students in their entrepreneurship programmes. Dr.G.D Bansal, Director General said that going in for new start-ups is the need of the day. By doing so the students become job provides & not job seekers, that is a real service to the nation & the society.
