The entire campus resembled a formula one circuit. Yes, it was gruelling four days for participants of 21 teams as they put their heart, mind, and soul into coming out with unique creations in the form of solar-powered e-kart and e-bike.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri staged the mega, Asia’s Biggest Electric Solar Vehicle Championship 8.0 which saw the convergence of students from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, and other states

Judges from 14 distinguished organizations were invited to check the performance of each vehicle on various parameters and put the teams to showcase different tests. Coming out with such creations is no easy feat as many teams were observed sweating out day and night and scratching their head to come out with something that can work. Different technical tests checked the vehicles on their steering ability, their maneuverability on uneven terrain, e-bikes and e-kart were checked on high rise humps and on zig-zag patterns for their control and stability, the top speed that can be attained by vehicles, and how strong and effective were their braking mechanism. Teams had to pass their vehicle through multiple rounds of testing to come out as a winner.

Several dignitaries from different departments added additional shine to this nationwide talked event, including Mr. Navjot Singh Randhawa, CEO PEDA, Dr. Vikas Chawla, Dean Academics – PTU, and Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Mr. Raj Kumar Verka, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, New and Renewable Energy Sources, Medical Education and Research, Govt. of Punjab. Top performing teams were awarded for their ingenious creations. Looking at the dedication of teams a cash prize of 1 Lakh was announced by the management of CGC Jhanjeri, in which 1st prize was given Rs. 50,000, 2nd prize was given Rs. 30,000 and 3rd prize was given Rs. 20,000 award.

The event started on 25th December with a lamp lighting ceremony by chief guest S. B. Singh CEO (Taaran Industries) & Joint Secretary (CICU), on 27th December a brief looking at the proceedings was done by Dr. Vikas Chawla, Dean Academics – PTU who was invited as Chief Guest of the day, and on the last concluding day Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Mr. Raj Kumar Verka, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, New and Renewable Energy Sources, Medical Education and Research, Govt. of Punjab was invited as Chief Guest and Mr. Navjot Singh Randhawa, CEO PEDA was the Guest of Honour.

Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) is a well-known organization in the country for EV Skill Development, E-Mobility Events, EV Research, Electric Vehicle Professional Certification, and Publication. It is a well-known platform among automotive industries, engineering colleges/universities, engineering graduates, and various sectors. Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) is a state nodal agency for the promotion and development of renewable energy programs and energy conservation programs. Several energy-saving projects have already been accomplished by this agency and many others are in pipeline.

Hon’ble S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC took a deep closer look at the different creations by students and appreciated the work done by them. Expressing his pleasure after the visit, President Respect, stated, “Innovation is the core on which a nation is built, we at CGC Jhanjeri have always encouraged and provided a positive background to motivate students to come out with innovative creations.” Mr. Arsh Dhaliwal, Managing Director, CGC Jhanjeri, expressed his views by stating, “Professionals with innovative bend of mind are the demand of future and at our college we include this study pattern in our course curriculum. I congratulate and thank all the teams for their time spent at CGC Jhanjeri.”
