CUET Unveiled: Inside Tips for Excelling in the Entrance Exam

Various state, central, and private universities accept students on the basis of CUET. It is an online entrance-based program that is conducted in 13 different languages. The questions are of multiple objective types (MCQs).

Admissions to multiple universities can be done on the basis of the CUET exam. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts CUET. The examination is conducted annually with almost 250+ universities participating across the country. These scholarships make it possible for students to access higher education.

What is the significance of CUET?

The introduction of CUET has altered the country’s admission to higher education. All entries that were previously based on the basis of entrance exams or merit lists of particular universities are now done through a Common University Entrance Exam (CUET).

Here are a few reasons why CUET is significant:

One common platform for all admissions:

CUET is one common platform for all the universities to conduct the exam for admission to UG, PG, and research programs. In 2023, 250+ universities participated in conducting CUET out of which it had 45 central universities.

Playground equality for all students:

As a result of the merit-based admission process on the basis of merit of class 10+2, some students suffer from unfair disadvantages like uneven marking schemes, and question paper difficulty levels practiced by boards. This gave some students the undue advantage of board exams.

Subjective biases are eliminated:

Due to the introduction of CUET, the subjective bias for admission to higher study programs has been eliminated. Let’s take an example of students who want to get admission to B.Sc Chemistry. He/she has scored really good marks in the respective subject but due to low marks in other subjects, he/she could not make it to B.Sc. Chemistry.

But now admissions will be based on CUET where subjective biases will be eliminated.

Eligibility for CUET

  1. Candidates who want to take admissions to UG programs must have cleared 10+2 with 60% marks from a recognized board.
  2. Candidates who want to take admitted to PG programs must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree.
  3. Candidates willing to take admissions to Ph.D. programs must have obtained a Master’s degree.

The candidates must have valid documents to support their claim for respective UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs.

However, several universities have their own eligibility criteria for admission to different courses.
