CGC JHANJERI LEADS GREEN CRUSADE WITH MASSIVE TREE PLANTATION DRIVE AT CHAPPAR CHIRI WAR MEMORIAL, MOHALI
In a compelling tribute to environmental consciousness and national pride, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri orchestrated a grand Tree Plantation Drive at the iconic Chappar Chiri War Memorial, Mohali, to commemorate World Environment Day. The initiative was spearheaded through a collective effort by the Department of Student Affairs, Naya Savera Foundation, NCC, and NSS, uniting students, faculty, and civic leaders under one green vision.
The event was dignified by the presence of celebrated Punjabi actor Baninder Bunny, a passionate environmental advocate. With unwavering enthusiasm, the guests, along with students and staff, planted over 500 trees, breathing new life into the memorial grounds and reinforcing a shared commitment to ecological restoration.
Further elevating the spirit of the occasion, students of CGC Jhanjeri showcased innovative sustainable artifacts created from best-out-of-waste materials—a striking reminder that creativity, when paired with responsibility, can spark meaningful change. From upcycled décor to functional art, these exhibits captured the essence of transformation and inspired attendees to reimagine waste as a resource.
“This initiative is not just about planting trees; it is about planting ideas, values, and a deeper sense of responsibility towards the planet,” stated Ms. Bismin Dhaliwal, Director Student Affairs. “At CGC, we believe that true education extends beyond textbooks—it involves cultivating a mindset that respects nature, celebrates innovation, and serves the greater good.” Actor Baninder Bunny echoed the sentiment, stating, “The seeds sown today are more than trees—they are seeds of awareness, action, and hope.”
With each sapling planted and each artifact displayed, the message was clear: the power to change the world lies in our hands, and the time to act is now.
CGC Jhanjeri stands as a beacon of socially conscious education, where academic excellence walks hand in hand with ecological responsibility.
