CGC JHANJERI, MOHALI SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES ATAL-FUNDED SIX-DAY FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM ON "DATA
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, successfully organized a six-day ATAL Basic Offline Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Data Analytics using R”. Sponsored by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, the FDP aimed to enhance the analytical, statistical, and programming capabilities of faculty members, with a focus on practical applications using R programming. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Rini Saxena, Head of the Department of CSE, and Dr. Ashok Kumar, Professor, CSE, who emphasized the increasing importance of data analytics in research, education, and industry, encouraging participants to engage actively throughout the program.
Over six days, the FDP featured a blend of expert-led lectures, article discussions, hands-on sessions, and an industrial visit, offering a holistic learning experience. Day 1 laid the foundation with sessions on introduction to data analytics, data preprocessing, and an engaging article discussion on AI-driven predictive analysis in Industry 4.0. Day 2 focused on data visualization, text mining, and natural language processing (NLP), with interactive lab work reinforcing theoretical concepts. On Day 3, participants explored exploratory data analysis (EDA), clustering, and association rule mining, enabling them to discover patterns and structures within datasets. Day 4 introduced classification, regression, and time series analysis, along with a forward-looking discussion on emerging trends such as AutoML, Edge Analytics, and Explainable AI.
A key highlight of Day 5 was an industrial visit to Antier Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Mohali, where participants were introduced to real-time applications of data analytics, AI, and blockchain in the industry. The day also included an advanced session on statistical analysis, demonstrating the relevance of data-driven decision-making in various domains. The final day, Day 6, was dedicated to research methodology, MCQ-based evaluation, reflection journaling, and a valedictory session. Participants were guided on designing robust research frameworks and encouraged to introspect on their learning journey. The FDP concluded with certificate distribution and the sharing of feedback, reflecting a week filled with meaningful academic and professional growth.
Throughout the FDP, esteemed resource persons including Dr. Amit Doegar (NITTTR Chandigarh), Dr. Rajesh Kumar (Thapar Institute, Patiala), Dr. Yogesh Shahare (CGC Jhanjeri), Mr. Mandeep Mahan (LTI Mindtree), Dr. Gaurav Singal (NSUT Delhi), Dr. Jagriti Saini (Eternal RESTEM), and Mr. Gaurav Kumar (Magma Consultancy) shared their expertise and insights. Participants learned to apply tools such as R, RStudio, ggplot2, caret, arules, and others for real-time data handling, modeling, and visualization. The FDP was praised for its practical approach, academic relevance, and ability to bridge theoretical knowledge with industrial applications, fulfilling its goal of empowering faculty members with future-ready data analytics skills.
The successful completion of this Faculty Development Program stands as a testament to CGC Jhanjeri’s commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development. By seamlessly blending foundational theory with hands-on practice and real-world industry exposure, the FDP empowered participants with practical skills, research insights, and a future-ready mindset. It fostered a vibrant environment of learning, collaboration, and innovation, aligning perfectly with the vision of the AICTE-ATAL Academy. As participants return to their respective institutions, they carry not just certificates but enhanced capabilities to transform their classrooms, drive impactful research, and inspire the next generation of data-driven thinkers and innovators.
