CGC MOHALI LAUNCHES IPMC CELL TO FOSTER INNOVATION & IP AWARENESS
Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali (Jhanjeri), proudly announces the inauguration of its Intellectual Property Management & Commercialization (IPMC) Cell, a pioneering initiative aimed at cultivating a robust innovation ecosystem and empowering creators to safeguard and monetize their intellectual property.
The IPMC Cell has been established under the aegis of the Patent Information Centre, Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), with generous support and funding from the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. This strategic collaboration underscores CGC’s commitment to aligning academic excellence with national innovation goals.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Er. Pritpal Singh, Hon’ble Executive Director, PSCST, who officially launched the cell. The event also witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director, PSCST, alongside senior dignitaries and representatives from the Ministry of Education, Department of Industries, and various academic and research bodies.
In his keynote address, Er. Pritpal Singh emphasized the crucial role of intellectual property in fostering a knowledge-based economy and applauded CGC Mohali (Jhanjeri) for taking a forward-thinking step in enabling young innovators and researchers to convert their ideas into tangible assets. Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi highlighted the significance of IP literacy among students and faculty, encouraging institutions to integrate IP training and mentorship into mainstream education.
The IPMC Cell at CGC Mohali (Jhanjeri) will serve as a dedicated platform to:
1. Facilitate patent filings, trademarks, copyrights, and design registrations.
2. Offer guidance on IP laws, innovation policy, and commercial potential.
3. Conduct workshops, awareness sessions, and training programs to build capacity among students, faculty, and entrepreneurs.
4. Bridge the gap between academia and industry by promoting IP-based research, product development, and technology transfer.
This initiative is poised to accelerate the journey from idea to innovation, nurturing a culture where creativity meets strategy. With the IPMC Cell in place, CGC Mohali (Jhanjeri) reaffirms its role as a catalyst for research, entrepreneurship, and intellectual empowerment.
